Off the coast of Brazil the FPSO Fluminense is developing the Bijupira oil field. Engineers designing the project and supplying the motors for the pumps knew to call on the vast experience and reliability of Solcon when designing applications such as this where  artificial lift is required to raise the reservoir fluids and gas to the surface for processing. Reservoir pressure is maintained by the high-pressure injection of seawater using heavy duty MV motor driven pumps. Solcon was called upon to soft-start these seven 6.6KV motors. Solcon soft-starters eliminate the high inrush electric current that would otherwise interfere with the FPSO electrical system and the damaging mechanical torque that would otherwise jar the motor shaft on every start.
